ORIGIN STORY
At Passion House we are constantly on the hunt for beautiful coffees, stopping at nothing to get our hands on the best beans we can find. We decided to name this Peruvian coffee Milly Grace after a character in one of our favorite Phish songs, “Fee”. Milly is an adventurous soul, traversing the world to find a serendipitous balance between exciting and comforting.
Clean and balanced, we love this coffee for its ability to make you want another cup (and maybe another after that - we don’t judge). Sweet notes of honey, apple and citrus are balanced out with honey floral notes on the finish.
Milly comes to us from the province, Calca in the southern mountains of Peru. This coffee is specifically located in Valle Inca and Sourced by our friends at Red Fox Coffee Merchants. Leader Prudencio (Jose Prudencio Saenz Vargas) is a Calca native who brings former experience as a bank loan officer to his work running Valle Inca—fiscal experience of critical importance to Valle Inca and the surrounding community, most of whom are smallholders averaging just 2-3 hectares each. Prudencio has a real, genuine desire to help farmers get better prices for their coffee, which is often all too rare in producer leadership. This selection is from a single producer Hualta Huaca and is composed of Typica and Bourbon varieties, grown at 5741 ft above sea level. We chose this specific lot because it stood out on the cupping table compared to others for its nuance, complexity and yet so approachable. Milly is ready to take your taste buds on an exciting journey!
